Staying anchored in the storm

Dear One,

No matter what storms may be passing through, they’re easier to navigate when we’re anchored in Self Energy.

Self Energy is a term from Internal Family Systems (IFS) / Parts Work Therapy (and apparently also from quantum physics, but that’s not my lane). It describes the experience of our most grounded presence — who we are at our core, without protective parts clouding our view, without fear in the driver’s seat. It’s not self-centeredness. It’s about bringing our best Self forward into the world.

Living from Self Energy takes practice.

It takes practice to recognize what Self Energy feels like in the heart, mind, and body.

It takes practice to gently meet the protective, defensive, and vulnerable parts of ourselves — the ones that can take over and cloud our view.

It takes practice to discern which values, goals, and priorities are truly guided by Self Energy — not fear.

And it takes practice to act in alignment with those values — again, and again, and again.

If fear is in the driver’s seat right now, that’s okay. It’s an understandable response to a challenging world. But when fear drives too long without Self Energy taking the wheel, we can miss the turns that lead toward the change we’re longing to create — within and around us.

If your yoga mat is where you reconnect with Self Energy, I’d love to have you in an upcoming workshop or class. If the therapy space is where you remember your most empowered, grounded Self, I have offerings there as well.
